November 2018 Lowband Contest Results

Although opinions were divided on conditions, several stations found signals from the North were above average. Coupled with a good activity level this made for an enjoyable contest for most. Entry levels continue to rise year on year.

On 1.3GHz the winner was John G4ZTR with the Combe Gibberlets (M0HNA/P) as runner up. Several stations broke the 600km barrier for their best DX distances in this session. The best DX contact reported was PE1BIW worked by the leading low power entrant on this band, Keith GW3TKH/P.

Again M0HNA/P was the only entrant on 2300MHz, with just one QSO on this band segment.

The M0HNA/P group won 2.32GHz with Barry G4KCT close on their tail. The QSO between G4KCT and G4LDR was the best DX reported at 318km. It was good to see some SOTA activations on this band during the contest.

The 3.4GHz band saw M0HNA/P emerge as the victor with a comfortable margin over runner up John G4BAO. For 9cm activity was good with the leaders working 9 stations. G4BAO worked the best DX with PA0BAT at 428km.

The overall winner was the Combe Gibberlets group consisting of G3TCT, G3TCU, G4SJH, and G1EHF, who won on three bands and were second on 1.3GHz. Overall runner up and leading fixed station was Martyn G3UKV.

Congratulations go to the overall Winner M0HNA/P and Runner-up G3UKV and to the following winners and runners-up:
